As remote and hybrid work have become standard, many organizations have maintained traditional assumptions about how networking happens. Without in person interaction, however, the ways employees build relationships, gain visibility, and access opportunities have fundamentally changed.
In this session, Dr. Provitt shares research from her 2024 dissertation examining how virtual networking influences career advancement. Drawing on both employee and employer perspectives, she explores what enables effective connection in remote environments and where organizations often fall short in supporting it. The session will also examine the role leadership plays in shaping networking outcomes and what meaningful support looks like in practice.
Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how networking operates in virtual settings and practical ways to strengthen connection, visibility, and career growth in a remote environment.
