Today’s workforce is facing rising healthcare costs, increasing stress, and a growing burden of chronic conditions—all of which are reshaping the role of employee benefits. MetLife’s 2026 Employee Benefit Trends Study shows that employers are most concerned about rising medical costs (74%), the cost of doing business (70%), employee stress and overall well-being (both 65%), and talent retention (65%). At the same time, employees are signaling a need for stronger support: 35% say programs offering expert, compassionate guidance for chronic conditions are a “must have,” rising to 46% among those recently hospitalized. Overall, 81% express interest in these programs, climbing to nearly 90% among recently hospitalized employees.

Cancer care adds further complexity as many employees delay screenings or treatment due to cost, face high out‑of‑pocket expenses, and struggle to navigate a fragmented healthcare system. Meanwhile, employers remain focused on controlling rising medical spend, even as employee well‑being stagnates.

In this session, leaders from MetLife and Private Health Management (PHM) will explore how supplemental health benefits can close gaps in traditional coverage and support employees across prevention, detection, treatment, and survivorship—while advancing equitable access to high‑quality cancer care.
