Pay Across Markets: Building a Compensation Strategy That Balances Consistency and Flexibility
Format
Roundtable
Description

As organizations expand across provinces, regions, and international markets, compensation leaders face a common challenge: how do you maintain a consistent pay philosophy when labor markets, talent availability, and employee expectations vary significantly by location?

This facilitated roundtable is designed for compensation professionals who are actively navigating these questions within their own organizations. Rather than focusing on a single solution, the session will introduce a practical framework for evaluating geographic pay approaches and create space for participants to discuss the tradeoffs, challenges, and decisions they are facing.

The discussion will explore common approaches to geographic pay, including centralized, market-based, and hybrid models, as well as questions related to remote work, provincial and regional market differences, executive compensation, and hard-to-fill talent. The facilitators will share examples and lessons learned from organizations that have taken different approaches, including what worked well, where challenges emerged, and how organizations have handled exceptions.

Attendees will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with peers, compare approaches across organizations, and discuss real-world compensation challenges in a collaborative environment. Participants will leave with practical insights, a decision-making framework, and new perspectives they can apply when evaluating geographic pay strategies within their own organizations.
