Name
Expanding Employee Ownership: Using Share Plans to Engage Hourly and Frontline Workers
Format
Roundtable
Description

Many employee ownership programs are concentrated among executives, leaders, and professional employees, leaving large portions of the workforce with limited opportunities to participate in long-term wealth creation.

This interactive session explores how Employee Share Purchase Plans (ESPPs) can be designed to expand ownership opportunities for hourly, frontline, retail, and manufacturing employees. Participants will examine how plan features such as employer matching, automatic enrollment, and integration with savings vehicles such as RRSPs and TFSAs can help make employee ownership more accessible and meaningful across a broader workforce.

Through discussion, examples, and audience participation, attendees will explore how share plans can support employee engagement, financial wellbeing, and a more inclusive approach to Total Rewards. The session will also examine practical considerations related to plan design, communication, and participation strategies, with a focus on helping organizations reach employee populations that have traditionally had limited access to equity-based programs.

Attendees will leave with ideas and approaches they can use to evaluate whether employee ownership opportunities are reaching the employees they intend to serve.
