Tim Cotter

Tim Cotter is currently a senior consultant leading the design, development, planning, and execution of the following areas of expertise on behalf of HR: (1) mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and venture transactions for the Nationwide enterprise, (2) Human Resources Committee and Board governance support, (3) data security, access, and protection for the Office of Human Resources, and (4) key operational programs, projects, and strategies within the Office of Human Resources and Rewards & Wellbeing which positively impact the organization’s overall efficiency, effectiveness, and success.

Tim has worked as an HR professional for over 40 years in the manufacturing, private consulting, and financial services industries. He has held HR business partner, generalist, and specialist leadership roles throughout his career, with deep expertise in a wide range of HR disciplines.

He received his Master’s degree in Labor and Human Resources and Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology with honors from The Ohio State University. He holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), and Master Project Manager (MPM) designations.

Tim has previously served on the Board of Directors for LifeCare Alliance, is an Emeritus Board member of the Central Ohio Diabetes Association (CODA), is an Advisory Board member of both The Ohio State University’s Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM) Program and Honors Cohort (Fisher College of Business), is a Board member of the Columbus Compensation Association (CCA), and formerly served as President of the Possibilities Associate Resource Group at Nationwide.  Tim holds the distinction of being a three-time Nationwide Volunteer of the Year Award nominee and one of ten Volunteer of the Year finalists for 2022, as well as a 2025 Nationwide Community Impact CEO Award runner up.
