Ryan is a Senior Principal and thought leader at Mercer, serving as a global resource for the Executive Rewards practice. He leads the international training and development of best practices for both early-stage (pre-IPO) and late-stage incentive equity plans.
Ryan advises clients on strengthening the relationship between business strategy and human capital programs. He has extensive experience consulting with boards and senior management on designing executive compensation programs that align decision-making with shareholder value creation while adhering to sound governance practices. His work includes evaluating corporate performance, defining reward strategies, and developing performance measurement and compensation structures. Ryan possesses deep knowledge of the strategy, design, and financial impact of incentive programs, particularly equity-based plans.
His consulting experience spans various industries, including technology, biotech, entertainment, consumer products, manufacturing, real estate, hospitality, and financial services, with clients ranging from pre-IPO startups to Fortune 100 companies. Recent engagements include designing a segmented long-term incentive plan for a fast-growing pre-IPO entertainment company and advising a B2B tech firm on strategic equity grants in preparation for an IPO.
Ryan holds an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management, focusing on entrepreneurship and analytical finance, and a BA from George Washington University in economics and psychology. He also serves on the board of a nonprofit dedicated to improving children’s health through nutrition.
