As the Vice President of Enterprise Compensation, Zack spearheads the development and implementation of enterprise-wide competitive and equitable pay programs and strategies. His purview includes overseeing enterprise design, executive compensation, where he regularly prepares and presents to the Compensation and Management Committee of Walmart's Board of Directors, as well as driving pay transparency initiatives. Before taking on Enterprise Compensation, Zack led Total Rewards for Walmart U.S. and the updated approach to our jobs and pay for above facility roles.
Prior to joining Walmart, Zack's impressive career includes leadership roles at Nike, Microsoft, and Amazon. At Nike, he served as the Interim Vice President of Global Total Rewards and was responsible for redesigning their global compensation annual processes, establishing pay equity processes and practices, launching flexible time off programs, implementing COVID pay continuity practices, evolving Nike’s retail pay program, and driving their global job architecture redesign.
Before Nike, Zack spent 15 years in the high-tech industry as a Total Rewards Business Consultant at Microsoft and Amazon. At Microsoft, he also led executive compensation, served as the HR Director for Microsoft Games Studios (Xbox), and was Chief of Staff to the Chief HR Officer.
As a native Midwesterner, Zack grew up in rural Iowa and attended the University of Northern Iowa where he earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology. He then went on to graduate from Middle Tennessee State University with a master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology.
Zack has two sons, Sam (15) and Oliver (13) and splits his time between Bentonville, Arkansas and Portland, Oregon. As a family, they enjoy spending time together hiking, biking, kayaking, cooking, and baking. Zack loves traveling, trying new restaurants, and listening to music, audiobooks, and podcasts
