William Self is a partner at Mercer and leads the global Workforce Strategy & Analytics practice, a group of client-facing data-scientist consultants. His background is in data science with particular expertise in people analytics, and before coming to Mercer, he served as a chief data and analytics officer at H&R Block and USAA. At Mercer, William is responsible for the firm’s efforts in artificial intelligence, strategic workforce planning, pay equity and DEI analytics, and developing strategies to help clients create ROI from data and analytics. William is a recognized thought leader in people analytics, speaks frequently at academic and industry conferences, and publishes in top academic journals, including the Leadership Quarterly, the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, and PLOS One. William graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College with an A.B. in Social Studies and received an M.S. in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley.
